The OECS Commission and the World Bank launched the Unleashing the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC) Project to utilise the opportunities for sustainable development that the Caribbean region’s marine ecosystems and coasts hold.
The UBEC Project, funded by The World Bank includes the regional MSME matching grants programme, financing business development services and matching grants to increase productivity, job creation and upgrade capabilities within blue economy value chains.
The goals of the OECS-led MGP are simple:
-
Increase employment and job opportunities
-
Increase productivity
-
Promote innovation
-
Build resilience
-
Stimulate economic recovery
Each year, increasing Sargassum seaweed inflows pose a growing threat to the tourism and fisheries sectors across the region. Our winnning proposal "Sargassum Beach Clean-Up", will introduce the Barber Surf Rake HD600 to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as a practical and efficient clean-up solution for affected beaches. Helping restore livelihoods, preserve natural beauty, and support resilient coastal economies.
To learn more about the service, commencing in August 2025 on Saint Vincent, you can email us and we will be pleased to share how your business and community will benefit.
